Cookie Policy

Cookies and browser storage

A clear explanation of what RookPDF stores in your browser and how you can control it.

Effective date

This Cookie Policy applies from 8 August 2026 and should be read together with the Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions.

What RookPDF stores in your browser

RookPDF stores small preference and history values in your browser's local storage on this device. These are not advertising cookies and never contain document content. They include your consent choice (rookpdf.analytics-consent.v1), interface language (rookpdf.locale.v1), recent download metadata such as tool name, status, duration and timestamp (rookpdf.downloads.v1), recent searches (rookpdf.search-history.v1), onboarding state (rookpdf.onboarding.dismissed.v1), favourite tools (rookpdf.favorites.v1), the selected plan (rookpdf.account-plan.v1) and local processing history metadata (rookpdf.local-history.v1).

Consent preferences

On your first visit RookPDF shows a consent banner. If you accept, non-essential analytics and advertising cookies are allowed. If you decline, none of them load. Your choice is stored locally under rookpdf.analytics-consent.v1.

Google AdSense

If you accept the banner, Google AdSense may serve ads on RookPDF. Google and its partners use cookies (for example on pagead2.googlesyndication.com and googleads.g.doubleclick.net) to serve and measure ads, including ads based on prior visits to this or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com. RookPDF never shares document content with AdSense.

Analytics

Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights run in a cookieless, aggregated manner and do not set tracking cookies. Optional Google Analytics (GA4) and PostHog only load after you accept the consent banner. When GA4 is active it is configured with IP anonymisation and no document data is sent.

Authentication

If you sign in with Google, authentication providers may set cookies or local storage to keep you signed in. This is limited to authentication data (account identifiers) and is separate from document processing.

How to manage or withdraw consent

You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing this site's local storage and cookies in your browser settings, which returns you to the consent banner. Browser settings also let you block or delete individual cookies, and most browsers provide an incognito/private mode. Disabling cookies may prevent sign-in from working but core local tools do not require cookies.
